The Bentley is not all that helpful in this honestly.. I don't know which writeup you saw, if it was the one I did or not.. Best bet is to take your time, keep all fasteners in bags or magnet trays..

Agree and disagree. The write-ups are generally much better than Bentley. The collect information scattered throughout Bentley and present it with good tips and pictures.

That said, while you do have to hunt around more in Bentley, it breaks the tasks into granular pieces.

Ideally, I like both, but both should be taken with a grain or two of salt. A combination of the two is probably the best bet.

Bentley Manual is here, doubt you can get it that quickly. You might try E-bahn.

You should think about changing the AC core at the same time as unless it has been done before it will probably fail soon. The AC core that was made in France is the weak link on this era of audis(no jokes please).

Use lots of ziplok bags to seperate everything and label all the nuts and fasteners . It's a bear of a job, took me about 12 hours.Use new seals on the AC lines they are the purple ones.

A 1/4 power ratchet or screwdriver with lots mm sockets extensions and torx bits is a great help.

Well, for a n00b, the Bentley can be hard to follow. But, I use it all the time. It helps explain where that last bolt you can't find is, it helps show what's under the thing you're trying to remove, etc.

I really like the Bentley. However, I may have referred to it a few times in the 8 or so hours it took to do the heater core on my A4.

No question. It's an acquired taste. Patience is a "must". Much better to take time somewhere other than in the shop to find your way around prior to actually trying to use it.

94-96 heater/AC core is unique to those years (A4 was available in Europe in 94).

A little bit of research could have saved you a world of hurt.

Hopefully you are not putting a used heater core ?
