Default Behold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

80,000 Miles!
(although you wouldn't know from the crappy-while-driving-nearly-dying Treo pic).

Cheers:

-- I enjoy this car as much at 80K as I did mile numero uno! That says a LOT. I still can't wait to drive the RS 6, even with this parked next to it.

--Car has been amazingly trouble-free (dive a few pages into here for comparison and you'll consider yourself lucky AnothAr High Performance Sedan). DRC is flawed no question, but I didn't beat my head against a brick wall (AoA), just ripped it out and moved on. At some point one has to consider what their time is worth and put principle aside. Any other service issues I've had with the car are more of a result of inept service than the actual vehicle.

--I'd wager the car below is the only RS 6 with more track miles than mine (OK, maybe JP4 also, but he doesn't count because I say so) and yet the car feels as solid and rattle free as day 1--save one little squeak at the B-pillar I have to sleuth.

--Big draw for me is still stealthiness. No one cares about YASS (Yet Another Silver Sedan).

--What makes an RS 6 so special is that it can effortlessly do SO much SO well in complete anonymity. Street duty, no problem. Inclement weather, so what. Long haul family trip, simple. Track time, BRING it. It can do it all with remarkably little compromise. Hang on to them boys and girls; like I intend to.

Biotches:

--AoA sucks

--We're all hamstrung by the tranny and only getting a taste of what this Cosworth block is capable of.

--AoA sucks

--Brake rotors don't have sufficient cooling for track duty but we know it wasn't really intended for that.

--AoA sucks

--Seats kind of suck, not enough bolstering, too bench like.

--AoA sucks

--Not a gripe per se, just a fact, any high performance car will be expensive to maintain and the RS 6 is obviously no exception.

Default Wow, who thought the old girl had that much in her - and with you driving no less :). Of course

at my rate, I've got 15 years, 1 month before I hit that number. I'll post that photo in 2023!

Enjoy for another 80K

Default Thanks.

It's a '97 too, the last year of a lot of things in the 911, as I'm sure you know.

Default Glad to hear re car; sorry your AOA experience was so bad.

At 60K mi I've had some disagreements with them, but on balance they have done me right. After a FL dealer failed to diagnose a rattle in ten hours, the AOA rep (maybe factory tech?) visited & recommended replacement of the DRC valve. That did it. This was almost two years ago, around 30K mi IIRC; DRC issues were new then and the extent of the problem was not yet known.

When DRC repair was needed again around 50K, it was quick with no questions asked.

So ... maybe AOA has a better rep and/or factory tech in FL? Then again, when I was having subpar performance issues even earlier, @ 10K mi, the same FL dealer -- acting on AOA recommendations -- replaced the ECU twice before correctly diagnosing the problem as a faulty wiring harness.

Since I did have so many problems early on, my Owner Advocate at HQ was very helpful after I vented on the phone while driving into FL about this time last year. My CEL had come on as I approached Atlanta, so I stopped at a dealer. Then it came on again in FL, as I was approaching 50K mi, and I called to vent. She called me back to offer a courtesy extension of my factory warranty -- another 12/12, to 62K mi.
