Default Heater core question

I have a heater core that is leaking but not into the cabin and the heat still works and no coolant smell in the cabin, the leak is coming from the rubber boot around one of the pipes on the firewall and leaking into the engine bay.

Does anybody know if this is a clog that can be flushed or is it the dreaded core replacement?

Just fix it right. Stop leak always causes other issues.

I don't want to use stop leak, I was asking if this sounds like a clog near the top of the core that can be flushed out, if a core is bad don't they typically leak into the floor of the car and the heat doesn't work?

Clogs don't cause leaks; they cause no heat. The plastic supply pipes are probably cracked.
