Default 2.7t slowly overheats

Yesterday i bought a 2000 audi a6 2.7t that is slowly overheating.
if you let it idle it wont overheat, but after driving for 20+ minutes, it starts to creep up past the halfway point. it is only about 15 degrees outside right now, so i dont know if thats helping it to stay cool right now...
i am going to bring it in the shop where its warmer and check it out so i can give more clues, just wondering if anybody has any ideas.
water pump was changed last may and apparantly it has had no problems until very recently

I'd suspect either a faulty waterpump, stuck thermostat, or clogged radiator. I wouldn't rule out the sending unit for the gauge either.

I'm with Chris with that slow of a creep of upward temp. id have to say your best place to start is your thermostat. whoever did your t-belt job could have vary well installed a infeariar part/after market timing components. in my experiance with audi's always go OEM to avoid unexpected failures. hope you figure it out and this helps out a bit.

Default lol....having trouble getting it to overheat

wanted to drive it untill it started to overheat.
seller said the day before he sold it to me it would start passing halfway point after about 20 minutes of driving, but hadnt had a problem with it before that day...
i got in it and drove it for an hour today without it ever passing halfway on the gauge! any thoughts?
note...oil temp gauge is not coming up at all...
