Hitch (non- oem) 2014 Q5 TDI?
#2
I was going to go this route, but the after market hitches really look like a bad bolt on accessory (in my humble opinion). If you go to etrailer.com, you will be able to see several hitches that will fit the Q5. they hang much lower the the rear defuser and look out of place to me.
I usually go with an after market hitch from etrailer.com, but I just couldn't do it this time. It was a painful $1300 to have the factory hitch installed knowing I could have gone after market with a self install for about $225 (w/no wiring kit).
It is a tough decision.

This is my dilemma now too. I need a hitch for bikes and the OEM is the best, but crazy expensive option. However, the look of the aftermarket options is awful. I wonder if I could get something fabbed/installed for like $500.

BMW has a bike rack that mounts to the tow hooks in the rear bumper. Not sure if it fits Audi tow hooks, but it might be possible to customize it. Link: http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/91...ICYCLE-CARRIER

He-he, somebody was looking at Maxxis winter tires for his Q5 . You could advise him where he might get some

Now if I can figure out how to weld a bracket on my 1up and slide it into the tow hooks, that would be cool.

According to Transfer "the look of the aftermarket options is awful"...lol.
Thanks man, the bike flies. 23 lbs even for a full suspension 29'er that's built beefy enough to handle an aggressive 200 lb rider.
