2007 Facelift Side Mirrors

Facelift was 2008; more thoughts/issue spotting...
I considered this, since later mirrors help deal with the very limited field of the stylish but less practical 2007 and earlier design.
But notice things like the side signal indicator got moved from the body up to the mirror. Also, later ones may have things like lane assist build into mirror, but not the earlier ones. Thus, not just plug and play.
I last thought about it when the only practical (cheaper) route was looking at donors from Germany, especially if the right paint color. I gave up when I started thinking about Euro ones maybe not having auto dimming mirrors like US ones always do, trying to find ones w/out lane assist, etc. But now that the North American post 2008 facelift ones have aged, you may find donors here and hopefully still avoid the lane assist extra twist. If so, I suspect the only "extra" thing you will need to do (if you want to even enable it) is to get a turn signal indicator jumper up to the mirror housing connector area.

That "limited field" is what bothers me. My neck is just getting stiffer. I didn't find any large ones on eBay anywhere, but even if I can find them I believe they would be extremely expensive. But I found all components NEW for acceptable money (possible group buy). If I manage to sell mine it might not kill my budget.
I don't expect turn signal wires there but I can add them, or just not use that feature and save some money. So any experience with harnesses, bolting or anything else that might help would be appreciated.

How about the Euro aspherical ones
That give you a somewhat wider field toward the edge. They used to be extortionate to get them with both heating and dimming like the N.A. ones are, but used ones are popping up on ebay.de and ebay uk. I'm bout to do that on mine on the passenger side (instead of the wide angle USA type). Already did it on the Q5.

That's another idea. Probably better and the most certainly cheaper one. I've managed my progressive glasses, so I would probably manage those too. Not so sure about my wife. She hates those things.

I'm Ba-aaaack!
I'd like to get an aspherical left side mirror, too. Keep me informed of any group buys!
Right now I have a $2 wide-angle mirror stuck to mine. Blech. But effective.
Congrats on the "Tech Guru" promotion, Misha! I have thought of you as such. Glad you've been officially recognized.
