In denial?...
some of the BMW crowd just can't accept the RS4 beating the M3, or being a better car. They should just give it up until the next M3, which will be a much more interesting matchup. Hell, they're lucky just to edge out an S4, depending on road conditions! That's the REAL competition currently for the 6 year old M3.
Tired of it too.

I think it's funny that they word the thread: "Is the RS4 any competition for the M3?"
That is such a hillarious way to phrase it.
The reality of it is:

This war will go on forever......
The M3 is a great car. The RS4, in all objective testing has beaten the M3. Will the new M3 surpass the performance of the RS4? Probably, yes...on perfectly dry pavement. However, my prediction is that by the time we actually see the new M3 on US roadways, the RS4 will be at the end of its production run. What, then, of that comparison? My point is that it's no use comparing to what may be coming down the road. All these new cars will overlap in terms of their production. There will always be something newer and better. Who knows, the Lexus IS500 may trounce Audi & BMW sometime in the future.
Right here, right now, in this class, the RS4 rules.

Well they must because they are the same car right?
I don't think the B7 RS4 has any significant part that is shared with the VW. You know what I mean by significant, as in, it would in any way, shape or form change the performance of the car.
