Default 2011 Q5 Front Grill

Hi all,

I just got a 2011 Q5/S-line without license plate option on front grill.
I expected there are two metal lines on the gront grill panel, but my '11 Q5 doesn't have any metal line.
It is just plane black glossy plastic.

How about yours?

S-line has no "metal lines", and non sline does have them I believe.

I had the same exact issue !! Got a 2011 3.2 Q5 with Nav a couple of weeks ago. Since all 3.2's have the S-line exterior, the dealer blamed it on it.

I was adamant and went to Audiusa.com and configured my car, it showed a filler plate with the chrome line's. Showed that to my dealer and now he says it because I have the parking sensors!!

Still wasn't convinced and called the service folks , they asked me to bring in my car next week.

I think what happened was that , My car initially came with the licence plate holder, but since my state does not need a front plate ..I asked them to switch and they just put in that filler plastic.

Was disspointed even more because I got a black Q5 and the chrome lines along with the chrome grill go well together.

I experienced the same and am disappointed. I took delivery of 2011 Q5, 3.2L with Navigation, Parking Sensors and S-Line . Initially I was made to believe that the two chrome lines are missing because it is a S-Line. Then I was told it is due to the Parking Sensors. Further pursual revealed the following:

1. The ordering guide for the 2011 Audi Q5 3.2L is misleading when it specifically says that 6w9 is a filler plate with 2 chrome lines. Additionally, in the ordering guide it says one of 6w3 or 6w9 has to be chosen, 6w3 being the one with license plate holder. This is aside from the misleading pictures on their website, catalogues and configuration websites. Now AUDI can take refuge for this misinformation under their standard disclaimer clauses included in fine print.

2. Now after purchase, the ordering guide is ignored by sales and parts. So they would like to talk only in part numbers which are different from those in the ordering guide. The part number for 6w9 (the one without license plate) is 8R0807287CT94. And it is confirmed that aside from what is said in the description and images, they donot come with chrome lines in both the possible trims 4GB(Bright Moulding) and 4GE(Black Moulding).
3. There is a chance that the 6W9 for 2010 or earlier; with part number 8R0807287Axxx can fit the 2011 grill. Apparently the upper latches are the same and lower latches differ slightly and can be fitted with slight modification. The challenge is to get one of these in the after-market.

I am interested in procuring this part 8R0807287Axxx (front grille with two chrome lines for AUDI Q5 3.2L) for the 4GB trim, also commonly known as glossy black. Please message me if you have one.

The filler panel with the horizontal chrome lines is for the non-s-line exterior, and the plain glossy black filler panel is for the s-line exterior, at least here in the USA. The 2011 3.2 Q5s come with the s-line exterior standard, hence they come with the plain glossy black filler panel.
