Default Valentine One - Stealth Display install, done and done- - ->

Spent the afternoon, a very cold afternoon I must add, installing the remote V1 display in ruknd's S4.

He started with a basic Valentine One, wired to the Cig Lighter...

I recv'd his stock steering wheel trim about two or so weeks ago along with his Concealed Display.

I started with a custom made housing that will replace the Concealed Display..and modified it further to work with the B6 steering wheel trim, applied, the appropriate color and, shown here with protective paper still applied to the lens...

<img src="http://images16.fotki.com/v271/photos/4/43687/3213377/KipsB6S403-vi.jpg">

I modified the original Concealed Display so it could be integrated into the housing, did some mods to the dash so as to allow the housing assmbly to install properly and to be able to get the wiring done..

<img src="http://images16.fotki.com/v277/photos/4/43687/3213377/KipsB6S404-vi.jpg">

We ran another set of wires over to the center console to be able to mount the remote mute button..

<img src="http://images16.fotki.com/v271/photos/4/43687/3213377/KipsB6S405-vi.jpg">

Kip chose the uber concealed mute button location inside the shift boot, so I mounted the button inside the boot..

<img src="http://images16.fotki.com/v270/photos/4/43687/3213377/KipsB6S406-vi.jpg">

There is a quick disconnect so the boot, **** and shifter surround can be removed easily..

<img src="http://images16.fotki.com/v282/photos/4/43687/3213377/KipsB6S408-vi.jpg">

You can't ask for it to any cleaner of an install then this..the mute button is located inside the boot so all you need to do is drop you fingers inside the valley in the front of the shift boot and press..

<img src="http://images16.fotki.com/v282/photos/4/43687/3213377/KipsB6S409-vi.jpg">

The finished product...

<img src="http://images16.fotki.com/v271/photos/4/43687/3213377/KipsB6S410-vi.jpg">

<img src="http://images16.fotki.com/v273/photos/4/43687/3213377/KipsB6S411-vi.jpg">

Next on the list the remote audio controls...this can be added at any time as the pieces are totally modular. This setup has the remote audio and speaker in one piece of trim, but if you have the security light control as an option there are other locations to mount the audio controls as well..

<img src="http://images16.fotki.com/v270/photos/4/43687/3213377/KipsB6S413-vi.jpg">

<img src="http://images15.fotki.com/v259/photos/4/43687/3213377/Copyofpic036-vi.jpg">

Now he is cruising ultra stealthy!! We also did the hard wire install so he no longer has to deal with cig lighter power cord!!

This install is the same for the B6/B7 A4 and S4 and is faily similar with the <a href="http://images15.fotki.com/v232/photos/4/43687/1119528/20051130006-vi.jpg">C5 A6, RS6 and All Road</a> and started life as a kit for the <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1693256.phtml">B5 A4 &amp; S4</a>

Enjoy!!!

Default Nicely done. -------->

where on LI are you located? I'd love to get my V1 hardwired,a t the least, and that looks like a great stealth setup that I's also consider. What parts would you need and what's the aproximate cost? (my car's a cabrio)

Default Mike, thanks again it is really sweet, it looks factory. Anyone who has a V1 this is just

a perfect install. The install is fairly simple so if you dont live in teh NY area for Mike to help I'm sure he'd give full instructions. It may look like surgery with his gloves on but that was to help with the cold.

It's also logical to have the remote display in teh binnacle because when it goes off you tend to look at the detector then your speed, now all you do is a quick glance down and tap the mute button as you down shift. Perfect.

Very nice. Too bad radar detectors are illegal in most of Canada.

Default it's a bit more involved than just the housing. Mike (LIS4) fabricates the housing to be

"inset" into the trim piece then fuses the two together. It's seamless. Now, the key is he actually cuts the board in half and rewires it so the unit is just as big as the LEDs. Do it you wont regret it. Even teh wires and clips he uses are quality.

As Kip noted...the housing is only a fraction of the work...
