Tire Dilemma: UHP A/S in 19"?
So I've been running two different generations of the ContiExtremeContact (the originals, and the new DWS line) for ages now on my C5. Here in Colorado we go from 60degF to 10degF in the same week, so I hate switching between winter and summer tires. I'm quite happy to trade some dry performance and some snow performance for a compromise tire which does well in all conditions, but phenomenally in none.
Of course AoA won't sell an S6 with this type of Ultra-High Performance All Season (UHP A/S or UHPAS) tire installed, so I resigned myself to replacing the tires on delivery
In looking though it appears Continental doesn't even make the ContiExtremeContact DWS in 255/40-19. They do in 255/35-20 though.
Thus my dilemma:
A) run the 19" wheels with their taller sidewall (and thus slightly softer ride and better pothole resistance) and come up with another tire choice
*or*
B) move up to the 20" wheels, take the 1/2" shorter sidewall and stick with the tires I've liked for years.
Advice? (I know there's always a religious war on summer/winter vs A/S tires, and I don't mean to re-ignite that!)
For those that have run UHP A/S tires in either 19" or 20", what have you liked?
TIA,
Richard

Don't have to deal with all season tires living in Florida but have you looked at the pilot sport A/S 3? I've been hearing good things about them and they might be available in your size. Just another option.

When I took delivery of my S6 I drove from the dealership directly to my local tire shop and had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 put on my 19 inch wheels. So far I have been liking them, great grip and comfortable quiet ride.

The Tirerack surveys for the Pilot Sport A/S 3 look pretty good until the snow performance That's what has made the ExtremeContact DWS so awesome for me.

I've had DWS on my '09 A4 and liked them. When I got my A6 with 19", I was faced with them same issue - no DWS in the OEM size. Based on the ratings, I decided to try the Bridgestone UHP 19" RE970AS and I love them. Better handling than the DWS with crisper turn in, equal in the wet and as quiet. The only negative is they are rated a bit less in snow traction but I've not had issues light snow or on plowed roads. Not sure if the new Michelin AS3 is available in the size but also worth a look.

What tires came on your car? Where do you live? Oddly enough when I was looking around TireRack they claim the Potenza RE970AS as an OEM tire for ... "2014 Audi S6 Sedan" ?????
