Default Streamline or Alex's?

Looking to chip up the A6 and hearing good stuff from both places. Any experiences anyone?

Default A lot of people have been happy with Streamline,

I really don't know much about Alex's. Hans and Elf at Streamline really know their stuff when if comes to chipping and programming VAG cars. I just ordered some suspension from them. Hope this helps.

Streamline has GIAC, Alex's has APR. All depends on what you want.

Default My understanding is GIAC works better with 91 craptane than APR does

though APR is better on 93 octane. But given what we have here in Utah, I'd go with GIAC. This is for the B5S4 of course, not sure how it translates for an A6.

People at the Vortex don't seem to have the highest opinion of Alex's. Not sure why, but that is the case.
And Streamline has a very good reputation, though some people hate them because they won't work on a car older than 1999 or something. But given the amount of work they already have lined up, I can see them putting some sort of limit out there.

Theres also TDC which has Revo, which I believe does really well in the TT, but kinda sucks in the B5S4.
Don't believe we have a shop here that does AMS/MTM chipping.

2nd. But after driving a GIAC S4 and an APR S4 (same year) I'd go with the GIAC.

I've only driven GIAC chipped. I understand the new flash loading is pretty smooth.

Default Anyone have any problems w/ the GIAC?

That chip gives a lot more power over the APR. Just wondering if there could be a problem with the extra boost.

Default I had a long year of problems with the X-chip on my '97 1.8T A4, but they were unique to . . .

that engine setup (AEB non-tip Auto). Ended up doing a bigger MAF and took some time to dial in what sparkplugs and gapping to use.

I loved the power and loved that car. Could not wait to sell it. Now I miss it a lot.

Default make sure you are checking out the A6 forum as well. It can be slow, but people know a lot.
