Default Pairing and using multiple phones

With a 2011:

1. Can you pair 2 different phones?
2. If so, if both users are in the car, how does it know which to pair with when both people are in the car?

Thanks.

I can't speak for 2011 but our 2014 SQ5 works fine with 2 different phones. I believe it tracks pairing by keyfob, just like the seat memory, or it could just be when we are together my phone pairs faster than hers...not really sure.

Myself and my other half have both our phones paired, only one may connect at the same time.

It connects to the one that was last connected if you are both in the car. This works fine for me, as if we are both in the car I am always driving, and if she is driving I am not there.
The only time it is a problem is if she drove it last, and then we go out together the next day (when I would drive) - in which case 10 seconds in the MMI to go to bonded devices and click on my phone.

Note that you can connect one phone as handsfree and a different phone AT THE SAME TIME for streaming music (if you have the Bluetooth music streaming option).
I often do this if a friend/colleague is in the car for a long journey and they want to play there own stuff.

Software and hardware are different in MY2011 and MY2013/14
For MY2011 there is no possibility for streaming music at the same time

You can connect an unlimited number of phones but just one the same time

I was wondering about this myself and thought I just hadn't mastered the MMI yet - so thanks for asking the question and for the responses.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Just for clarification, with the 2011, I can pair multiple phones, though it will only connect with one at a time. So do you mean that if I set up both phones to pair and I'm in the car it will recognize my phone and when my wife is in the car it will recognize hers?

Thanks.

The way I thought that it work is that the first phone paired is the default phone and it will always pair when in range. The MMI will go through the list based on the order in which they were paired. My wife's always pairs when we are in the car even though I have mine with me. The only time that mine will pair is if I am by myself.

The one question that I have is how do you send an incoming call to the handset. When we are both in the car and she gets a call, it connects over Bluetooth. Both my Ford and our previous Infiniti had a button that you could push to send an incoming call to the handset. Right now when we travel together, we turn the Bluetooth off on both phones.
