Re: Audi S3 confirmed/asked audi dealer for info
i spoke to my local audi dealer who confirmed the s3 was due for release in the 4th quater of the year but he did not have any engine spec he recons it will be a 3.2 turbo giving 300/350bhp at the least not the 2.0t as that will put engine under to much pressure but could not confirm as of yet

Internal source just confirmed it as well. Approx 260hp but much lighter than the 3.2.
No word yet if we get it in North America, but chances are very very good.
How this is going to play with the much more powerful R36 from VW is unknown. Apparently the R36 is up in the air because of DSG transmission durability/space questions. This is why Audi went ahead and used the 2.0T and less than 300hp.

Rememebr that the 3.2 is a very heavy steal-bodied engine...
... that is not the same as the lighter, all-aluminum 3.2 (actually a 3.1 liter) fitted to the A4, A6, and the European A8.
The 3.2 adds not only much more weight, but also degrades the handling by increasing nose-heavy understeer.
If Audi were to go with a modified 3.2, then they would do well to reduce the front-end weight somehow.
I predict that VW's 3.6 V6 engine, already fitted to the Q7, will be the S3 engine.
We'll find out soon enough...
