after the dealer flashed my ECU for the failure to turn over problem, the car just continued to run rough, start ups were rough. I had bought a 10 pk of NGK BKR7E (rock auto), and I was going to wait til I chipped. But today I threw them in and said "let's see". Well............I mean the car turned over like never before, smooth, effortless. then, I drove around the block.....acceleration is VASTLY improved, quicker, smoother. car sounds better. If you are experiencing the rough stuff, throw 8 bucks in there. Oh, and what genius made the engine cover so hard to get off? Prolly Dave ;-)

I used to do it w every oil change on the A4, so yeah, 5-10K. they are pre gapped, but I checked them anyway.....32 I think

you're right, the A4 was not direct, but aren't other a3's using the BKR7E's? Am I totally demented?

There are three types of plugs that can be used in this direct injection and it was made fairly clear on one of the posts in vortex. They were all platinum or iridium surface or air gap fine wire plugs.

Just saying that it might not be a good idea for you to run those.

They come at .030 which is .002 smaller of a gap than stock and that will be perfectly fine when chipped.

You don't want to try to gap iridium plugs because of possible tip damage.
