Default Seatbelt Warning Chime...

Didn't see if this came up before in a search.

I have an 07 4.2 and the seatbelt warning chime drives us crazy when the vehicle is in park. Does anyone know how to disable or if there is a MMI update for this.

It would seem with all of Audi's technology that they could program the car to not have that chime go off constantly (however many seconds it does) when it is in park and only activated when a gear is selected or something.

It drives me crazy if I am on a conference call sitting in park and I can't take my belt off to take notes or get on the laptop cause of that stupid constant chime or when I run in somewhere my wife has to fasten the belt cause it drives her freaking ape nuts.

Find somebody with a VAG-COM (VCDS) cable in your area. The chime can be disabled.

OK curious here. For my 07 Q the dealer said that wasn't something standard that could be disabled (via Vagcom) like mentioned.

Yet now that my Q has been in the shop for some time I have been driving a 2010 A4 and it doesn't do the annoying seat belt chime so what gives?

They are pulling your leg. I have a '07 4.2 and turned off the chime within a few months of purchasing it back in 2007 using the vagcom.

I will have to ask them again, the one service guy said that Vagcom would do it but that the dealer wasnt able to screw with the seat belt chime due to liability etc. Made some sense until I saw the newer Audis dont seem to have the same problem so it must be a newer update in the electronics that Ausi fixed at some point

wow is Vag really needed for something like this? i have driven ford vans for years (with no onboard computer) and the chime can be turned off with a little ritual involving the headlight switch and i think the wiper stalk. havent done it in a while but i think it takes 2 mins

i would expect it to be a computer command on a luxury SUV...just a lot more accessible.

hell, if the dealer is gonna charge me for this (for what should be a easy free fix) I may just buy the vagcom so I can do the windows on the remote etc too...
