Default Car and Driver: Audi S4 vs: 335i Article

By popular demand here is the full Car and Driver article comparing the new Audi S4 and the BMW 335i. It is a good read and after
driving the new S4 the only question I would have to ask is if I would get the 7 speed S-Tronic or the Manual transmission.

Interesting how this test's performance numbers are so close. I've seen a German comparison with a far more pronounced advantage to the S4. My own experience with my brother's 335 backs these C&D results - pretty much exactly even.

Pretty much even...except for looks though, audi dominates the 335 in that department IMHO. You are not going to turn one head in a 335, despite having amazing performance. I wish BMW would try a little harder in the styling department, especially interior. Until then I'll take an audi, even a slower one, any day.

Yep, my brother's sentiments exactly. As he freely admits, the only way you can distinguish a 335 is once it's gone past with it's dual exhausts. He wishes they'd differentiate the 335 like Audi do with the S Let's see what they come up with in 2011.

Agreed. It's all about the whole car, not just 0-60 or 1/4 mile, etc. If it were, I'd get an M3. But I have yet to see a BMW that fits my style and looks as good as practically ALL Audis ... let alone the 2010 S4.

Why the S4 didn't blow the doors off the RWD 335i at the slalom with quattro and sport diff? It beat it just marginally with all these technical marvels.

The extra 300-400lbs on the S4 doesn't help. Additionally, the bimmer has closer 50/50 weight ratio.

C&D now has this online on their site (I guess enough time has passed since the hard copy in print is out)

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests

Same article text, though a ton more pics:

And they have the charts listed in the magazine in PDF downloadable format.
