Default Can a rebuilt CV axle assembly cause vibration?

my car had a noticeable vibration when accelerating from low speed or accelerating from around 60 to 80. Also noticeable when climbing a slope, rather than just cruising at a constant speed.

This all occured right after my front passenger side CV axle assembly replacement. I checked for loose bolts and even tried another set of wheels/tires to verify that it wasn't a bent wheel or unbalanced wheel.

so, caan a rebuilt CV axle assembly cause vibration? Anyone had this kind of issue?

It can - wasn't rebuilt proper, not enough grease in boot or it could be slightly out - not true

Default Yes - seen this in worn/bad inner CVs

I once had a VW with similar symptoms, vibration or shudder on acceleration, esp. hard acceration. It was a bad inner CV. Take car back to shop. Not all rebuilt axles are equal, some can be basic clean-up jobs (cleaned, painted, tested). Was this an audi OEM rebuilt axle?

Default Several possibilities:

1. defective CV
2. improper fit causing it to kink ( seen this)
3. inner bolts improperly seated / torqued
4. Wheel improperly seated on hub ( nothign o do with CV)

others I'm sure.

If it's under acceleration/load, then I'd say the CV is shot...BTDT on a friends allroad.

we normally replace the axle assembly with a rebuilt unit.. sometimes improper installation can cause vibration..try to check your repair manual it will show you the diagram about axle replacement.

Sure, but dont jump to conclusions.

Its good that you checked wheels/tires - the #1 source, even when people swear they are fine.

But also consider:

- drive-shaft bolted in slightly crooked
- center/prop shaft bearing or out of balance
- drive-shaft out of balance ( would have to be a lot since it is such small diameter...)

But certainly, if there is play in the races, it can either go around eccentrically, or, worse, get out of alignment and bind.
