2 Questions on Q7 (Brake Pads/Coolant)
I have two questions on my wife's 2012 Q7.
1) The dealer recommneded replacing front and rear brake pad at 22K miles. Do these go out so fast?
2) My wife suddennly got low coolant warning. After the car cooled down, I found out that coolant was almost empty. We took the car to dealer and requested leakage check and were told that everyting is fine. It seems strange that coolant would be empty at 22K miles.
Any comments are appreciated.

Brakes can go pretty fast on this vehicle. Many factors are involved including driving style, whether you tow, and of course the weight of the vehicle which is unusually heavy.
You loss of coolant is concerning. I suspect that it was your expansion tank that was empty. I would check the engine oil for signs of contamination (milky color). This would most likely come from a blown head gasket. You would almost certainly have a check engine light associated with a head gasket issue. Also, I suppose you could have boiled it off- again, am overheating issue. This would show up in the fault history if they even bothered to check. Lastly, it could be a leak-your original suspicion. I would take it to another dealer and get a second opinion. I've never lost a drop in almost 60,000 miles. Good luck.

I own a 2007 3.6L and every six months or so I have to put a little coolant in the expansion tank. It for some reason loses about 50-100 ml of fluid. I have never had any check engine lights or codes thrown via Vag-Com...

Short answer yes. OEM brake pads go fast, look at all the dust. Suggest replacing with aftermarket if you want longevity.
Also had to top off coolant one or twice, use PENTOSIN - Coolant/Antifreeze.
