Default ThunderDent Q5 (Ibis/Cinny) OEM+ **build thread**

Hello all... my name is Joel (aka ThunderDent) for those of you who don't know me.

Here (finally) is the much anticipated OEM+ build-thread for my Q5. I have finally gotten all the parts needed to upgrade everything (minus the grille which we are all still waiting on). So I'm starting up the thread to get everything ramped up for install.

Took delivery of my 2011 Q5 2.0T Ibis White w/ Cinnamon interior in June of 2011. Ever since then I have been purchasing little by little my upgrade package to turn the standard 2.0 Turbo Q5 into a large turbo "Sports Sedan with a Backpack" to quote the Audi write-up about the Q5.

I'm going to list all my items/pics and as everything gets installed I'll take some more photos. Once everything is done, there will be a full photo shoot added to the thread.

First I'd like to thank the many people who helped getting all the items and the several of you who have helped along the way. Including:

Alex @ EuroPrice
(Body kit items, Flat-bottom Wheel, STaSIS Sway Bar)

Bill @ Genuine Audi
(Body kit items, 20" S-Line+ Rims, new brembo brakes)

Laszlo @ 034MotorSport
(High-Flow Cat, Silicone Turbo Inlet Hose, Upper Control Arms, Front & Rear Sway bar End-links)

Alan @ STaSIS
(STaSIS Signature high-flow exhaust w/ 3" downpipe)

Mark @ LLTeK
(Black Optic RS Front Grille)

Adam @ Adam's Rotors
(Rotors, brake lines)

Glen @ AMI
(ST Coilovers)

Adrian and Kurt @ DubWerx (Cincy APR dealer/Custom Audi Shop)
(APR Stage III K04/S3 Turbo)

Terry & Justin @ Bert Wolfe Audi
(My go to service manager, Terry, one of the best in the biz, much props to the Audi techs on staff there as well, especially the head tech who has taken such good care of my Q, Justin.)

And Finally a few helpful members of the AW & AZ communities who have talked through some things along the way...
(Jason- aka D_Frost, Alex- aka Birdman, and Robert- aka Stuttgartrob)... and last but certainly not least, Spijun... who has been the master of checking and cross-referencing parts and diagrams. Much help from him!
Much respect to these guys who also have hella nice set-ups of their own, and hopefully one day we all get to meet at an Audi event somewhere.

PICS:

================================================== ============

The plan is to get all the hardware not already installed, on in a couple of weeks. (Exhaust, brakes, rotors, sway bar, etc.)

Then in a month or so (once the new grille finally arrives) the Q goes off to the body shop for paint and body kit fitment.

Once a good detailing is done, a full photo shoot (with a better camera than my cell phone)... sorry for the crappy pics ... will be done and you can find it in this thread.

I will try to get the Q on the Dyno at some point (there is a speed shop about 15 min up the road from me), and get a diagnosis of what I'm actually getting. From adding up the numbers from the APR K04 Tune, the HFC and the STaSIS exhaust though, I should be at around 365 HP and about 395 ft-lbs. torque when all is said and done. Once the exhaust/hfc goes on, I'll need to make the trip back to Cincy to get the high-flow exhaust remap updated to the ECU.

Hope everyone enjoys. I can't wait to get the rest of the items in place.

Going from a stock 2011 2.0T to an S-line, custom "S" caliber build hasn't been easy, but I am looking forward to the final result.

Oh, yeah, and it does go fast........

Gotta get everyone talking/stirring about it first ... can't blow my whole load all at once!

I know I'm married, but I haven't forgotten what dating was like yet!

I'll have updates soon... (only a week or so until I can get all the hardware on).

It's about time you started a build thread

I lost a lot of sleep waiting in suspense hehe... but definitely glad those exchanges and planning sessions are coming to light hehe...

2013 will be a good year for modding

Never noticed you had the full APR Stage III turbo, awesome man!!

I've never heard of this VCDS mod: Set the Drive "D" and Sport "S" mode to display gears (D1-D8, S1-S8). Also very neat. Are all the listed VCDS mods done via software only (i.e. no additional modules required other than the vag-com)?

All the VCDS stuff listed is just done with the cable and the ross-tech software.

I'm dropping my brakes off for paint right now!!

Oh hey, that sounds useful. I don't remember running across it before. Can you tell me where to find that setting?
