Not sure I follow. There are holes in the front where the cam seals go and it's not like it couldn't be machined without the holes since the valve cover comes off...

Yes. I did it to my central locking assembly. All that is needed is a small piece of vacuum hose (about an inch) to "extend" the pump tube. There is a tech article floating around somewhere here...
