i had to rig my 225 exhaust for a few miles to the muffler shop on my first TT - i remember seeing a hanger that straps onto the exhaust with a belt-like design. so, no welding...

why does your engine have to be running to scan vag-com?

you should be able to run vag-com and scan the car with the engine off but key turned.

i think the vag-com issue could be a sign and could mean a bad ecu?

oh - and i don't think it's the...

check for oil around the inlet of the turbo

if it's your pcv and it's causing it to smoke like that there will be some oil there..
