just noticed ECM wires to have some sort of bite marks and pieces of insulation. this is consistent with some sort of a rat chewing on my wires. What can be done to stop them?

I had the same issue with hot air. Instead of replacing the valve, I took the valve cover and cleaned up the metal rod on the solenoids. It fixed problem with hot air.

I have 2006 and 2008 avants for 2008 you could get a blue tooth adaptor from eBay for $10 and a USB power supply. For 2006 you need to connect the adaptor to MOST bus.
So 2007 is anyone's guess.

that happened to my car and I did followed that procedure to fix it. You do not need to take out the valve module from the car, but be careful not to drop anything into the coolant.
