Yes, this could be the problem if your fan is not turning on when the AC is turned on. A MM test would confirm this, but I simply swapped out the sensor.
You may also need to check/switch around...

The idle was probably adjusted to get it to run also....and now that you have a whole filter in, its out of whack. The manifold is right there at the airbox, so is any of the heat shield even left ??

I would say both are bad. Had one around 970 that turned out to be bad. Try swapping the two (and the connections) and see if anything changes. Clean off any metal bits attached to the magnets also....
