Re: Would I do Euro Delivery again?

All good and fair points, but I think there's one element in the equation that's missing: the savings of not renting a car.

What's the cost of renting something like an S4 or RS4 in Europe for a...

Re: Group TomTom GPS?

I've still got the european map SD card for Garmins. Worked perfectly. If you have a friend with Garmin unit, I'll sell you the SD card for 50% of retail...

Got it!

Finally got the S4 stateside! Car looks great, just 1 more mile on the odometer. It took 6 and 1/2 weeks.

Annoyingly, it took 10 days to get from the port in RI to the dealer in Boston, which...

Burn them to CDs...

I just had this issue, and I think the only (current) way to do this is burn them to a CD and re-import them as MP3. The easier ways have been blocked by Apple (I tried). It's a bit of pain, but I...

Yes, they handle the luggage...

When you arrive at the forum, they take your luggage back somewhere on a trolley, and then it's sitting next to your car when you take delivery. It's all quite well done.

Re: Driving questions

Yeah, I agree with K2, it's very easy to buy the autoroute stickers at the gas stations. We bought them for Austria and Switzerland, at the first convenient exit after entering the country, no...

Re: Pictures from ED trip (long post with 31 pics)

Sept probably is the best time to do it. Weather is still great, roads and hotels are less crowded.

You can do the alps in Aug w/o hitting lots of tourists. It's the south of France that's mobbed...

I think the show pictures make it look better than the heavily processed marketing photos.

Nice. That's a fair bit of snow. Is that an Avant or a Sedan?

Yeah, I think I'm going to get a set of snow tires/wheels. Are they worth the hassle vs. getting all seasons?

Re: Gorgeous car - mine will be similar...

Thanks.

It usually is 6 to 8 weeks, but I think there's an August plant shutdown, and you got caught by it...

Worth the wait though!

Re: Spectacular pics and great writeup...

Yup, I think you've got the route correctly. I was coming down from Switzerland, so I went to Castellane (N85), then D952, and then D955. I went into the gorge a bit, but not the whole route. It's a...

Re: New 08 S4 (6 pics)

Yup, pretty much. We went from Luzern, to Bern, and from there down the 12 to Bulle, turned off to Gruyere, and took back roads and stayed in Gstaad. And from Gstaad we took back roads to Montreux,...

Re: Congratulations! European delivery would be fun...maybe our next Audi.

Very good question. AudiUSA.com says 30 to 40 days. The actual paperwork says 6 to 8 weeks. K2 on the forum said his took 8 weeks. So I'm guessing 6 to 8 weeks. I think it really depends on how long...

Re: I sent a Volvo S80 to Greece and it took 3 weeks.

Yeah, it's not long on the boat. I think the big "?" is how long the car waits for a container ship to fill up. Plus transport from drop off point to Germany, customs, and from port to dealer in the...

Re: You missed your calling

For the S4, the manual recommends "lower rpms" (audi person told me 3000 rpm), no wide open throttle, and 3/4 of top speed on dashboard for first 600 miles, and then gradually increasing to 1000...

Apparently the European and U.S. Nav systems run different software, you can't just switch the DVDs.

So... I have a European SD card for a Garmin unit, if anyone wants a good deal. Worked...

Autobahn experience...

Hmmm. A few thoughts on the autobahn...

#1. It really is a lot of fun, and feels very different. Worth doing ED just for the experience. It took me an hour or so to really get comfortable on the...
