Agree. You can't compare a luxury model to a performance model. Compare it to the same-year RS4.

A8 / S8 applications are an industry non-starter

Our intake manifold is a technically advanced active dual or TRIPLE plane anyway, so why replace it.

As for headers, you can roll your own. That's about it.

You could fabricate a carbon fiber Y...

Hot-Linking images from other sites burns THEIR bandwidth.

It's stealing free Internet hosting for pictures you want to use.

Savvy hosts sense hot-linkers and slipstream in photos of semi-nude fat chix to replace the hot-linked images.

There is a Detailer's Forum here on AW, and ...

... those people could tell you 7 different ways to use a Q-Tip to remove curb rash from your wheels.

Look there for all the good advice.

There are no holes in the A8 to mount them to, tho.

You would have to lay out and drill mounting holes, then provide some kind of backing plate to give it all strength.

AFAIK you can use the ones from Audi, but you can't mount them.

There are no retro-fit mounts or bars, no.

If you want them, you'd have to make it all yourself.

It's a wonderful addition to any A8, so it's not without merit.

There is a transmission soft code that can be changed. One code for "North America" ...

... and the other code is "Rest of the World."

The original poster's A8 starts out in 2nd gear after it warms up due to the gas-saving North American shift program and it's perfectly normal.

That's normal.

It's a fuel efficiency measure. The car will use 2nd instead of 1st to save gasoline.

With a non-turbo car, chipping will grant you 15HP at most. For $600 its completely not worth it.

As for raising the redline ... uh ... did you replace all the rotating assemblies with stronger parts and the valvetrain with titanium valves and stronger springs?

Valve float and broken piston...

My Independant mechanic was very proud to report ...

I was surprised but happy.

The RS4 is closest but you'd still probably be beaten in a highway drag event.

The RS6 would make all four of those guys simultaneously **** their pants when you punched the gas pedal but you are going to pay $90,000+ for one.

My suggestion to you is buy a used facelift A8,...
