Generally it takes less power to move lighter components.

So the idea is you'd be able to put more of your engine's output to use if you had lighter wheels.

There are a couple limiting factors

Not taking into account geometry issues that become a problem when lowering a car too much (i.e. bump steer and possible binding)...

Suspension travel: how far can you physically raise the upright...

I think they had Altenburg on during the Miller race, but other than those couple races it's been the regular guys. Greg, Brian and Calvin all do a very good job of walking through the paddock...
