The RS5 uses the same transmission as the S4, if I recall. I don't know about the rest of the components in the drivetrain, but the transmission should be up to the task.

Noticed that the landing page for the StaSiS S4 package has changed, specifically the part where the engine upgrade would be available spring 2010, now says late 2010 (touring package):

hmm.. well I do see where they say is does have a torque converter, so I suppose that puts that into the category of a traditional automatic..
