Besides the limited low temp setting of 64 F, there is a adaptation channel setting....

that allows for up to +/-4 F offset of the set-point temperature from the indicated temperature setting. You could change the adaptation to the -4 degrees and maybe that will provide the comfort temp...

The correct gas cap has a magnet inside, that closes a reed switch in the filler port ....

to indicate the presence or absence of the cap to the warning system. I don't know if the passat cap has the magnet or not, but if the correct cap does not clear the warning then the reed switch...
