It's actually coded as "4" for the headlights, which is the Bi-Xenon with 21watt DRL's (which it does have...not LED). But yes, if the lights are off and I pull the stalk back to flash it flashes...

So....just dawned on me, the halogens in question - they are the "cornering lights" on my car (i.e. when you turn the steering wheel it illuminates that side). Does that mean this era A8 (2006) does...

So...I've searched (tirelessly : ) after finding the recommendation to switch the Headlight Coding to "ROW" (which, from what I can see is done through VCDS Module 09 for Central Electronics)....
