Thanks for the reply, but its more of a groaning/creaking when hot.... Its driving me crazy! Now, to top it off theres an exhaust leak coming from the flex pipe on the driver side!

Got a new fob with key from ebay = 25 + 10 to get it cut at the dealer. Then another 30 to have them program it via VAGCOM (didnt own the software at the time)

Yup there is a harness connected to the MUTE pin from the upper right corner of the pic (circled in yellow) But not 100% sure if there is anything connected to it from the metra harness.
