Yep! I "shocked" mine as well. The problem returned so I pulled the VVT actuators and soaked them in my ultrasonic cleaner. The problem has not returned and it's been months. Great post.

I wouldn't expect Rolls Royce quality for $10, but mine worked just fine. It's nice not to swing the console up and have the contents dump out all over the back seats anymore.
