Which Turanza?

I'm assuming that you want an AS tire and don't live where you need winter tires. The General Altimax is a good inexpensive tire. I have a set on a spare car. But, I think an 05 allroad deserves...

95 load rating - oem is 97

I've seen those on cars for sale by dealers. Personally, I just wouldn't go below the 97 load rating you can get with a number of diferent tires.

Probably just the boots, and it's an arguable point

The cv joints would be covered without question, but the boots, and at $800 I think that's what he's talking about, are a subject of argument on extended warranties, including cpo.

I've had no ex-purchase costs except tires on my wife's allroad and my Jag

New allroad in 05, 03 cpo Jag same year. No problems, great service. Depreciation seems to be about a buck per mile though. These are not economy cars. People who worry a lot about expenses...

We're in the same situation - further to Paul's advice

My wife's allroad has 26k miles on it and the lease expires at the end of June. We have had two slightly different offers from dealers whose buyouts are about 2k under our purchase option. They buy...

Brake pads and rotors at 22k

My wife's '05 just needed new pads and front rotors, after 2 1/2 years and 22k miles. No charge, but is this normal? We've had no other problems and we're thinking of keeping it when the lease is...

Thanks

Yeah, new a year and a half ago, and serviced by the local dealer at 5k and 10k. I've already made a note to talk to them about it next week when we take it in for the 15k. The servicing dealer is...

Thanks

It's my wife's car and she seems happy with the performance of the pirelli's. I've searched here and through the tirerack reviews and know abou all the complaints. If it were my driver, I'd put the...

Uneven tire wear, side to side, any ideas?

We have an '05 with the original Pirellis. All four tires were rotated at 5k and 10k and all are wearing evenly. The odd thing is the tires on the right side are more worn than the tires on the...

I have some on a light sportscar

I don't have enough miles on them yet to say a lot, but my initial impressions are that they were designed for tuners and drifters whose cars aren't as heavy as Audis and who won't be troubled by a...

Re: Great movie...you'll love this:)

My high school girlfriend was a police captain's daughter. She didn't even know how to drive. I enjoyed reading your rant, btw. Good luck with the allroad.

Yikes

Sorry about the trouble, but it goes with used cars. Buy new, just different problems, and really good cause for annoyance. But I digress. My impression is that all dealer service writers and...

Yw, for me it's the idea of suitability

There were a couple of A6/V8 owners among the tirerack reviews who were hapy with the Direzzas, though they had few miles. But an appropriate tire for your car would be the Conti 2's, a very good...

Re: Dunlop Direzza DZ101's?

Great buy. I just got some in a smaller size for an old sports car. First impressions are very positive for a small lightweight car. Soft and sticky and they look like they will also be ok in the...

Thanks, now a question on wheels

Do you carry any 14 or 15 inch wheels that can be adapted or drilled to fit a 4 by 4 pattern?

Any other ideas in an inexpensive summer tire?

I just bought an old sportscar for my teenager. It has 15 inch aftermarket wheels on it, and with good rubber is a great handling car. So I'm looking for inexpensive performance tires in size...

The NADA numbers are just a marketing tool for the dealers

For trades, dealers all over the country use the auction numbers, with some unpredictable exceptions. A guy in Orange County CA traded his Touareg to an Audi (but not VW) dealer for the Kelly Blue...

Just had the 5k service a couple of weeks ago - no problems

5,000 miles in 6 months. 2.7T with tip. It's my wife's car, drives it to work and we took it to the mountains for a short skiing vacation. No problems, no adjustments. Even but minimal wear on...

Re: Are Pirelli P6's crap or is it my imagination?

We've just gone over 5k on my wife's '05 allroad and she has no complaints about the Pirellis. Wear is even and minimal so far, and they seem as quiet and comfortable as other tires. They aren't...

Re: Tire Rotation at only 5k miles

Sure,

1. they don't expect the oem tires to last 15k miles, so there's no point to it.

2. they pay for service and don't want to pay for rotations.

hence, rotate them. if your dealer...

That's a really nice allroad

I don't think I've ever seen one so nice. Odd about that girl's lack of a tan, though. I guess she doesn't get out much.

Further to Gary's comment, and Gary, what do you think?

I had the same problem with a front wheel and Conti Ones. I had to replace a front Conti One, and my front tire size is no longer available. I was told I could put Conti Sport Twos on the front and...

Re: Plus "zero" size to 245 x 50 x 17" first of all. . .

Which tires are you using now? Why do you like a larger tread size?
