I changed mine at 95k. It was fine.

You should get it done sometime soonish - you're going to have to do it eventually anyway and it's not something you want failing. Get a kit and find a good...

Neither the coolant flange nor the thermostat are really all that difficult to DIY. The thermostat seems like it would be a pain to do but there's a good write up here or on the net by Matt Devo. I...

Steering rack

Hello,

Need some advice - steering rack has finally failed and so need to get it replaced. Sadly - and I know I'm not the only one - I'm seriously short of cash at the moment so need to try and...

My 02's been fine. Anyway B6 was out on 2001 in Europe.

Haven't seen any evidence that 02 is less reliable - and there were a few things like heated rear seats that they later "cheaped out" on.

Aero rear wiper

Hi,

Just switched over to the aero wipers. Very good but what a pain getting the old arms off!!!

Anyway, just wondered if anyone knew if the rear wiper can be "aeroed" and if so what the part...

Thanks for the reply. it's a 1.8T

Any chance the code would be a hangover from when the thermostat died or would that have reset itself by now?

As for the timing belt I've seen a couple of write-ups but there are always small...

P0118 Code help.

Hello All,

It's been a while since I posted here but I read the forum most days.

I took my car over to Autozone today to see if there were any codes showing - I had it in my head it sounded a...

Correct. It lubricates and adds at least 2 inches. Or your money back.

Loads of oil discussions here - search the archives. Audi Junkie normally gets into the oil discussions as it's an area he knows quite a lot about.

Stay. Biggest cost of running a car is depreciation.

Which is basically what you've been paying.

Most cost effective thing to do is run it until it dies - but this way you also get to enjoy playing with it a bit.

By which time you'll be ready for...

You can squeeze in without removing the coolant tank too

Some instructions here, basically the same process.

YES IT CAN. USED TO BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. Don't use capitals - it's like shouting

It's just one of those things. The switches are covered by a sort of plastic paint and they tend to peel - although I've been pretty lucky with mine. Perhaps the previous owner didn't look after the...

Hit Hit Hit

Just be careful driving a car that doesn't have them afterwards - you can get used to them - but then I'm from Europe so I prefer European blind spots to American ones :)

It will work, just you'll get a bit less mileage

The electronic control system will retard (or is that advance - can never remember) the timing of the spark plugs to prevent pre-ignition of the lower octane fuel.

Lower octane fuel can't handle...

Quick thanks to Diagnosticator, Junkie and others who helped me do the thermostat

As you might recall I got stuck at the alternator bolts.

In fact my hexes weren't very accurate - so I couldn't get the leverage, as soon as I got a proper metric hex it came off reasonably...

PS - There can be more serious causes of water in the oil too

But as you've not seen it before and it was only a little - and you didn't see lots of water in the oil, it's unlikely to be one of those.

Do you do a lot of short trips?

I remember that doing lots of short trips doesn't allow for condensation in the engine to burn off and so you end up with this horrible gunkiness.

I'm sure others will chime in. I'd suggest the...
