yah - i wouldn't call the TT as a high maintenance car but it does requires a lot out of you. i did as much modding as i did maintaining it. anyway - good luck with everything.

don't buy any TT that's not 02 or higher. hell you can buy an 04/05 for some decent price. also look into CPO as it will save you money in the long run. 225 version with 6spds are the best (to me)...

i would just go with 6k range as the 5k aren't that much better off compare to the 6k

i have 6k for years and they're fine. it looks dim but not that much compare to the 4.3k.

there's only so much u can do to the TT to make it fast with a stock turbo. then u go big turbo and

a whole new world of pain opens up waiting for you. anway modded K04 really is no match for an E46 which is why i tend not to pick a fight with them lol to save myself from embrassment :D
