I had a Jetta that would barely run because of a clogged cat.

I punched the guts out with a big screwdriver and hammer and ran it that way till I got a used one at the local pick-n-pull. It sounded pretty odd.

titanium is too hard to cut should it get pinched on my finger, TC is very hard...but will break before it bends and pinches. It was the proper material for my situation.

It also doesn't scratch...

basically, take the motor out...

take the cover off the motor. Scrape out the solidified grease. Refill with white lithium grease.

dont go too cheap on the cat...

I did (ebay-$75 or something like that) and the porcelain inside cracked within the first 6 months, and made an awful noise until it warmed up. I replaced with a metal matrix tiny little cat.

I've done a swap from the cast manifold to the tubular header, and it wasn't that bad. Getting to some of the bolts is a PITA but it can be done.

I would do the swap if I were you, but make sure...

I've used it on the coupe...

I poured it in through a vac line, and it smoked impressively. I felt like I could notice a difference in the car after, but I'm not sure if there actually was. It seems like a good idea.

There should be a metal rod...

cylinder shaped that is in with the spring. If it's not there, then your PS pump will not send hydraulic pressure to your hydraulic brake assist, so you need it unless you are swapping to vacuum...
