That's my writeup and never encountered it on the 2.8 motor. You might be able to unbolt the exhaust and let it hang, but worst case you have to cut it and reweld/clamp it when you're done.

Sounds like you have a vac leak somewhere. The trans code can be disregarded. If you depress the brake pedal after you turn the ignition on, but before you start the scan, that code will not show.
