I'd definitely say that's on the high side. I bought a moro blue USP over the summer for significantly less -- granted it had higher miles but it also had most issues addressed and the timing belt...

For one, you're in the wrong forum. Secondly, the push button is only to lock the rear differential. It's full time mechanical AWD, so unless some component of the quattro system was missing/faulty...

The chime in a B4 90 is in the instrument cluster. More specifically in the "minicheck" (from the front it's the top section of idiot lights, with the cluster out it's the module in the middle...

Use some anti-squeal paste on the back of the brake pads (usually doesn't to much)...or install some better quality brake pads (turn or replace rotors at the same time).

As long as pistons hit valves there is inevitable damage that will need to be remedied. A compression test will help to identify which cylinder(s) is(are) affected.

Ding! All seasons aren't very good in the summer nor winter. Dedicated summers (and snows if applicable) are the way to go. Once you have dedicated sets you'll wonder why you never did before...
