1) cold temperatures (winter time)
2) synthetic oil
3) water condensation in oil (everybody has this to some degree)

How do you remove the plastic screen in the brake fluid reservoir?

I want to top off my brake fluid but I cannot remove the little plastic screen filter that sits at the opening. There must be some sort of trick to it, like push down and turn right or something...

they don't appear to have beefier knobs than the Continental ContiExtreme Contacts. I know looks can be deceiving and there's lots of science behind it, but it's just an initital observation.

Funny. The same thing happened to mine also on Thursday when that cold snap came through here.

At least, I think it's the steering pump.
