I've got an A6 with some oil leaks. I would like to have the engine swapped or rebuilt and turbo's upgraded. If you have any recommendations for a mechanic or shop please let me know.

I ended up having to cut the hook as the cable came off at the latch assembly. Went to home depot and got a 12" reciprocating saw metal blade and took about 5 minutes.

+1 on the crank sensor, my 2006 did exactly the same thing the OP is describing. Changed it and have not had the issue since.

I did this a couple of weeks ago as well, major pain in the rear compared with doing it on an A6 C5. Just take your time and you will get through it.
