I had something very similar happen to my car. Try disconnecting the cd changer in the trunk.

My CD changer had a short in it that was blowing out the fuses on the radio.

Yeah, the connections do look the same as a tip fuel rail...I'm looking at one in front of me right

now (part number 078 133 681 AR).

The only difference I can see is that the little metal thingy sticking off the vacuum line under the fpr isn't present on the tip fuel rail I have. I'm sure...

No, you need to tap the line that is the farthest of the three toward the driver's side.

But you are correct with regard to removing the fpr.
