A little play is normal

keep in mind that the bushings need oil to operate, which will take up most of the free play.

wow, grats

I'm kind of in the same boat, My car hasn't seen the light of day in over 2 years.

As for the mustang dyno, it's definately conservative. I put down 250whp at 17psi, but a bone stock S4 put down...

check VWVortex

you will get better answers there.

Personally, I think the MS is a step back from the stock 1.*T ECU, especially now that there seems to be a decent selection of aftermarket chips for big turbos.

RPM = "Ruins People's Motors"

just remember reading that somewhere, The Old One I think.

Anyways, it all depends on how well balanced the rotating assembly is, bore/stroke ratio has a big influence on how well an engine can...

could be the turbo, could be too early for synthetic on a new motor

since that's really the main thing that changed, I'd start there first.

Unfortunately, not very easy to troubleshoot, short of putting the old turbo back on.

Also, I'd run conventional...

I just picked up a MS kit

and with the options (fuel and spark), it was a hair under $400, for the unassembled version. Plan on spending an additional $100 or so for an assembled one.

It's not together yet, still waiting...

Bad gas? was it a sudden or slow drop?

in colder weather, I get 3-4mpg less, and rush hour traffic vs. freeway is another 3-4mpg easy.

It pulls timing for a reason

unless you treat the reason why it's pulling timing, then adding timing will do more harm than good (if any)

FMIC, water injection, higher octane gas, more efficient turbo, etc, etc

450+HP for 5K?

maybe for something that would last a couple blasts down the 1/4 mile, but throw reliability out the window, I don't think it would last on a track for very long.

You could drop 5K on the short...

I've been good. The car on the other hand....

been sitting in the garage for over a year.

I started it up a couple months ago, only to have the ignition switch break on me (switch #4)

So, back in the garage it went.

What is your HP goal?

300HP? 350HP? 400HP?

you looking to replace a lot of stuff so you can have that oh-so-impressive parts listing in your sig?

In reality, there isn't a lot of HP to be gained by rebuilding the...

Huh? 2.0 with a 81mm bore?

typo I hope lol.

Out of curiosity, why the switch to dry-sump? Did they give any estimates on what kind of power it frees up? Seems like a pretty high cost to benefit ratio.

Still, damn...

Re: Do you have the part # for our ABA forged crank? Or a good extra to sell.

Nope, I never really looked into the part numbers for the forged cranks. I doubt you'd even be able to buy a new one from VW, most likely superceded by the cast crank.

Make sure the ground straps are connected

I had a problem once where i was getting occasional misfires. turns out the bolt that holds the ground strap on for the coil packs was loose (on the valve cover)

Automatic or Manual?

I need a good instrument cluster, not sure if the auto and manual clusters are interchangable.

I need a couple other small things, cruise control stalk, and, um, I forget.

Hell no!

the water enters in front of the turbo.

Large drops of water + blades spinning 100K+ RPMs = damage over time.

most chips do....

advanced timing usually increases gas mileage, but I think the manufacturers don't do it because of emissions and engine variances.

Need to tune for the lowest common denominator, and some engines...
