There is no need for a retrofit - it already exists in your vehicle. You should see the camera over the license plate. Many 2012's were delivered without the chip installed as there was a shortage...

There is a reason AWE doesn't support the a6, only the a7. Yes it fits, but I suggest you talk directly to AWE about it. I had an AWE exhaust on my 2012 a6 before I sold it.
