The electronic LSD was in the Edition 30 original release.

When VW (Europe) first displayed the Edition 30 prototype, the release announced a planned electronic limited slip differential. VW had been working with the Haldex fwd elec lsd, but believed it...

Right now, the 230hp engine is mostly available in the GTI Edition 30

As of now, the 230 hp engine is mostly available in the Euro (and UK) GTI Edition 30 (30th Anniversary models). It is esssentially, the new S3 engine with smaller intercooler and smaller turbo.

Yes, those are the changes.

They pretty much leave me looking elsewhere. I am not looking for less of a GTI (or A3). I am looking for more of a GTI (or A3). I will not assume the A3 will follow the GTI changes, and I am...

2008 changes? (VoA just released '08 changes)

Anyone know the 2008 A3 changes? VoA just released the '08 VW changes to dealers.

Wondering if the 230 hp 2.0T engine makes its way into the A3? Wondering if the electronic limited slip...

NO Go as of Jan 26

Announced yesterday, they WON'T be building it. Say it will take too many sales away from the TT, plus American market is too weak on hatchbacks to add any support for Shooting Brake.

All I know...

I think you've missed the point.

I think his point was if Audi was going to do a different type of sunroof, they should do it as well as the "normal" sunroofs. I think he's kind of saying if Audi prides itself on its engineering...

Audi in U.S. dilemma.

I'm wondering if people can give me their advice. Like a number of Audi-philes, I really wish we'd get models available elsewhere in the U.S. For me, I'd love an S6 Avant (I'd even buy a A6 4.2...

Okay, I guess you're right, but ......

in 3.5 years of driving a VR6 GTI, I don't recall my front wheels ever having slipped.

I understand your point, but .....

please remember the A3's quattro is a Haldex system which feeds power only to the front wheels until there's slippage. Then it gradually feeds power to the rear. I think up to a max of 70% to the...

Okay, it's $3900 instead of almost $5000.

So, we're talking almost $4000 for the VR6, Haldex and power seats. Looking for insight on whether it's worth it or not. I suppose the people who don't highly value the Haldex, and I don't know...

Help me out with the 3.2 vs 2.0T price difference.

It looks like the price diff tween a 3.2 w/open sky, bi-xenons, side airbags and a 2.0T w/DSG, sport pack, convenience pack, audio pack, open sky, bi-xenons, side airbags is almost $5000. (I think...

Question for April.

About a month ago VWAG showed their 30th Anniversary GTI "study". They showed an electronic limited slip torque-sensing differential patterned after the Haldex fr-rr differential, but designed and...

Well, ....

Yes, there are none available for sale in the current VWAG model line ups. But, that doesn't mean there aren't any at all.

OTOH, there are plenty of 2.0T tip (Torsen)quattro models available from...

Other sources say S3 to replace 3.2 in U.S. in 2007.

Other VWAG personnel have said U.S. 3.2 sales are a sizeable disappointment (it seems most buyers like most AW forumites prefer the 2.0T) and it might be better to replace the 3.2 with S3 in the U.S....

Please help me out here.

Thank you for this post. Altho very little is new. Most of these comments follow the Chairman's Auto Speigel interview about a week and half ago.

Audi had earlier said the S3 would be three door...

I don't know why you say next gen A3 will be based on this.

Per the Chairman's remarks, the next Golf will be based on the existing platform (with accomodations for the new front end and to fit larger trannies for larger engines) and existing powertrains. ...

What's your point?

Chevy is still using a pushrod V8, which is more than 40 years, and they're still getting rave reviews from the motoring press. Again, what's your point?

Really doesn't make difference in the U.S.

U.S., and presumably Canadian, gasoline is not volatile enough to produce the stratified charge. So, our engines aren't "full" FSI anyway.

No, US wont get MKV R36

First, the U.S. won't get the R36. Neither the 6MT or DSG trannys that fit the available space can withstand the 3.6's torque. The U.S. will get the R32. BTW, this was "officially" leaked about...
