Not sure what they meant by 7 pin adapter. The plug on the car is 13 pin, if what they are saying is a 13 to 7 pin adapter that should work. You can purchase 7 to 4 pin adapters locally.

Just had the 45k service competed

The only thing that is needed is the oil change, per my service adviser. The 4.2 takes over 9 qts so between the oil, filter and labor the cost should ~$110.

Chip is a good upgrade as it will make the 2.7 more drivable, but the number 1 bang for the buck is h-sports, If you haven't installed those I would suggest doing that 1st.

We paid $600 on the Passat since it was apart to fix the oil leaks

caused by the breather tube freezing up a couple of years ago. Oil leaks were covered by warranty.
