I encountered someone literally doing 45MPH in the very left lane of I-75 (70MPH limit) yesterday...

Those in front of me sort of did emergency evasive maneuvers (maybe not paying enough attention?) to pass on the wrong side. Since I basically refuse to pass on the wrong side, I used my usual...

Try clearing that code and hitting the brakes momentarily right before scanning the transmission...

I think that's a false code. The Bentley had a nice term for it, but I've forgotten it.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/faq_2.html#2.7">VAG-COM FAQ:</a></li></ul>

No A/C or rear seat... skip

To me the point is to still have such comforts along with performance. There are better track-only cars.

I think they do it because they think they can get away with it and it allows a little extra profit.

I've been considering taking my cluster apart and checking the connection to the display...

Mine failed in a strange way-- the entire display died without warning (all pixels were working), no backlight or anything. Except, recently, portions of the backlight have come on randomly (even...

It's sold at dealerships, possibly NAPA, and online retailers.

VW, Audi, or Pentosin brands are fine. If you get it at a dealership it will likely be G12 Plus which is purple. Pentosin will likely just be G12 which is pink.

It's not compatible with other...

I wasn't referring to the cost, but rather that I'm using and prefer a 17 year old keyboard...

If you don't have to get a new one (as in old but unopened box), you can get them very cheap along with maybe a spare for parts. Some just consider them old junk. They clean up very well, but it's...

I wouldn't consider my IBM Model M disposable.

Removable key caps (that go over the actual key) FTW.<ul><li><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_Model_M">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_Model_M</a</li></ul>

Why not something like 502.00 Elf Excellium LDX (or NF) 5W40...

or whatever Total Quartz thing they've renamed it to in the US? Last I checked, more 5W40 was on the 502.00 list than 0W40.

I'll never understand the rename. The average consumer in the US has...

I'd avoid going more than 10-12 months on a change of synthetic

No particular reason other than that I get very nervous at that point.

If all at 70-75MPH with cruise control and no non-highway driving except for a small fraction of

a mile for fuel, I've gotten slightly &gt;30. MPG. Anything more than getting fuel in between and it'll decrease dramatically. This means avoiding letting the interior warm up at fueling to avoid having...

Eventually a chain will need replaced

I'm guessing if that engine was ever used in a longitudinal application, it'd require removing the engine to change. In addition, replacement parts for the chain would be far more than anything...

Any specific reasons?

I've noticed that many consider the timing belt job a lot more difficult on the 3.0 for some reason. In addition, I've heard of many more "major" disasters (requiring engine tear down) with the 3.0...

VW (water and air) and Audi specifically, but they will do some work on most other vehicles too

It's really best to find a place that has experience working on your specific car and engine. That way they aren't treating your car like a lab rat.

At least you noticed... that's better than most quick lube places that'd give it back with...

6L extra engine oil (overfilled) and a near empty transmission.

For some reason, dealership t-belt jobs on the 3.0 can cost way more (read double) than 2.8 or 2.7T,

and sometimes 4.2 jobs. This is just based on a timing belt job price flyer I remember seeing once.

Four-wheel steering, second rear axle, dual rear wheels, extra spare wheels on roof and trunk lid,

steering wheel to joystick conversion, large satellite dish, antennas on mirrors, grille guards, and moose antlers are among mods I would not like to see done.

A conversion to the 3.0 TDI coming...

I wouldn't supply my own parts for a timing belt job...

You don't want a dispute over responsibility if a part fails and kills the engine a couple months later.
