I never had a fitment issue. I had one of the first few that arrived at Achtuning too. I'll echo helix139's point that getting the filter on took a bit of patience but that's about it.

The 2013 S4s are a bit lighter than the 2010-2012 S4s. That would probably contribute to the main performance difference.
