Great mod! Have you thought about painting the case black?

The silver stands out quite a bit from the black vents. Flat black would help it blend in more and perhaps reduce some glare as a bonus.

Either way very nice work!

We have done this on the D2 forum and it was very useful. I'm looking at moving up to an 2005-2006 and appreciate the info!

If you have the warm weather package (solar roof) the shade is attached to the framework of the glass so it all sides back and forth as one unit.

Given the age and the high failure rate of the oil coolers on the board

here lately, Me thinks der oil kooler is kaput!

Maybe that's why dealer overfilled teh resivoir?

I'm looking at buying an 05 A8 in this color, except the car is 4 hours away and I haven't been able to get away to see the car in person yet.

In the pictures, the paint seems a rather dull color...

Work of art. You've taken the best of both worlds,

the dark interior and the lighter wood and they work perfectly with one another.

I always marvel at just how beautiful the interiors of the A8 are.

Since it's a tranny with "lifetime fluid" (ha) there isn't a way to check the level without putting the car in the air (making sure it's level) and removing the drain plug.

Better yet - disconnect the battery or pull the pump fuse.

Just to make sure the pump won't start when you crack the fitting on the filter.

I went to a local body shop supply store

and bought a bunch of different black push-in style fasteners. I had 5 different sizes and was sure that they would work - I was so proud of myself...

None of them worked. Me thinks the dealer...

I have a complete assembly from a 99. Grey.

Good Shape. They were removed at 42,000 miles when I did the upgrade. I've been talking with another forum member but he has not committed yet, so if you want 'em they are still for sale. $185.00...

and somewhere in the viscosity range recommended by the manufacturer.
