New brakes, rotor question

Just got a set of brembo rotors for the front of a friends car. On one rotor the outside edge has been shaved down a bit. Is this typical, my thought was that its for balancing of the rotor.

Has anyone attempted to quiet down the interior of their 1.8T?

my take

I'm under warranty, chips are fairly safe (APR, GIAC esp). If you wanna do it, the best way is to buy a new ECU and have it chipped or buy one prechipped, that way if you take you car to the dealer...

ECS OEM Big Brake, no porsche calipers, less money

kit has tt carriers and rotors, optional pads as well. I got them a few weeks ago and love them, easy to install and a slightly better pedel feel. total was 550 with EBC green pads.
