Re: timing belt

I would bet it was not done. I don't think the TB job is part of scheduled service until over 100K.

You might already know this, but the timing belt can last over 100K. It's the belt-driven...

John, you should have emailed me...

I do have an extra you can have. Did you check the compartment where the spare tire is located? Otherwise, I bet the roadside guy left it on the ground. Let me know if you still need one.

From other posts, there are three primary causes...

1. There is a short in the wiring. Check the wires from the brake sensors (mine were worn, and caused the two wires to touch, causing the light to come on. A piece of duct tape fixed it).

2....

No problemo, but...

Get an aftermarket TBB that is designed for the extra boost of a chip, as I see you know already and have tried to get. Hope all works out.

Even though it has few miles...

It still is 5 years old. Have you checked typical engine components that often fail (mostly at high miles, but can happen to older 2.7T's). Such as the throddle body boot, by-pass valves, and...

Is the broken clamp the one supplied by the dealer? It looks like the old clamp, not the updated one that would help prevent TBB tears. I'd have to look at mine (the updated one) to be sure.

Re: Do you like the snub mount? White is sweet with the tint!!!

Snub mount made a world of difference, especially while shifting. So much crisper. It's only a $50 piece, but a total PITA to install. Luckily for me, I installed it while doing my timing belt...

Never seen the ruler used this way...

I wish I thought of that while installing my TG shifter. It would definitely have saved some time while adjusting to the gravity protractor, or whatever it's called. Anyway, nice job!

Good Service at New England Tire Center in Seekonk, MA

For great service go to NE Tire and Car Center in Seekonk, MA. JMess's brother is the manager. They're familiar with Audis, prompt service, and won't leave your forhead vein bulging over the cost...

I believe they're full gravity cast...

The others are cast as well, but I think the outer rims are forged. That helps reduce weight and adds strenght to the area of the rim that usually gets bent.

Unless somebody pipes up and...

Do a search on "snub nose mount"

Or check out APR's website (goapr.com), one of the sellers of aftermarket snub mounts (the front engine mount).

IIRC, there's a great write-up in the tech section on snub mounts vs. drive train...

Bought my A6 off eBay...

If I told you the price, you wouldn't believe me. Nothing wrong with the car either, except a few things that I fixed myself. The reputation of the seller is most critical in this transaction.

M1 0w40, OEM filter, 3 - 5K...

More frequent for urban driving. Less frequent if doing more highway miles.
