I'm agree about motors. At least 4.2 liter V8 must have Valvelift System and power 420-450hp.
Power under 400hp now belongs 3.0tfsi and this motor (330-350hp) must be in A8 D4 as lowest choice.

Right answer. Lower speed at higher gear give you better mileage.
Especialy with 3.2fsi motor, which has not pumping loss at low rpm, because throttle valve fully open before 3000 rpm.

What you've read must be simply an error.
Tiguan has 2000kg for 1.4tsi motor, 2200kg for Sport-and-Style versions, 2500kg for Track-n-Field.
Even with no Track-n-Field in US,...

I have quite similar problem on '01 S8.

Turning right slightly stiffer all time and very stiff to start rotate wheel if the first movement after start the engine is to right direction.

Yes, you are right - '01 S8 vs A8 D3 with 350hp motor.

On paper '07 A8 quicker
S8 D2 - 6.6 sec 0-62 mph
A8 D3 350hp - 5.9 sec.

2011 will bring very strictly law for emission in EU.
Diesel motors, which meet that standarts will be very expencive and less effective than now.

2.0tdi has 258lb-ft@1750-2500rpm, 170hp@4400;

Official Philips D2S recommendation - must be replace after 1500 Hrs

Datasheet states typical change of lum. flux:
- after 250 hrs - 10% deduction from new;
- after 500 hrs - 15%;
- after 1500hrs - 25%

Secondary air system in 40v motors - electric air pump: anybody knows about faults?

ECU shows a fault code: 17831, 17819 - air flow of secondary air system too low in both banks .

Air pump of that system has a filter.
Is it possible to clean one?
May be anybody knows how to...
